The Justice Conference: On Tour -Birmingham

We see this idea expressed in different ways across human history. From famous Franklin Roosevelt speeches, to the ancient legend of the Sword of Damocles, to, well, Spiderman…

Even Jesus taught something similar: “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded” (Luke 12:48).

On the one hand our culture very often promotes and celebrates power - we see bold, forceful, charismatic people gain positions of power to rule and shape our societies. But on the other hand, power is so often spoken of as a dirty word - associated with corrupt and exclusive corridors of power.

• But what does power have to do with our current cultural moment and our faithful pursuit of justice in our day?
• Whether we like it or not, power plays a significant role in the pursuit of justice. It is present in our societies and communities - even in our churches. But when it comes to power, how should we think and act?
• Should justice-seeking Christians be seeking to gain power, or speaking truth to power? Or dismantling the unjust structures of power in our society?
• Can pursuing justice and wielding power go together?
• How should we speak truth to power in ways that bring about God’s justice and peace?
• What does it look like to use our power for the good of others?
• How can power be used to reconcile broken relationships and heal the wounds in our communities?

In March 2023, The Justice Conference is once again touring the United Kingdom with a series of events where we will explore these questions and more:

• 13 March: The Well Church in Sheffield
• 14 March: New Testament Church of God in Birmingham
• 15 March: City Church in Cardiff
• 20 March: Adelaide Baptist in Glasgow
• 22 March: Redeemer Central in Belfast
