The Jura & Beyond: A Tasting & Discussion of French Alpine Grape Varieties
About this Event
As recently as the early 2000's, the wines of the Jura and the Savioe in eastern France rarely made it out of the towns and villages where they were made. Ripe, high-alcohol wines were in fashion globally and the crisp, lively cuvees made in the morning shadows of the Alps were for all intents and purposes afterthoughts. Fast-forward to today, these wines made from varities both familiar (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay) and obscure (Poulsard, Savagnin) have played a leading role in guiding the global palate in a new direction. Join WSET 3 educator and Arizona Wine School founder Justin Cuene in learning through tasting and discussion about these delicious wines, the people who make them (in France and abroad) and the vineyards from which they derive their inimitable characteristics.
