In honor of the national holiday, we are embracing Juneteenth as a weekend celebration of events. The celebrations will begin on Friday, June 14, 2024, through Sunday, June 16, 2024.The order of events will occur as follows;
The 'Juneteenth Is Lit', is a fun family event. This event will feature a local spoken word artist, authors for children and adult books, a live book reading, and fun activities for children. It will be held at Lit Java, from
6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The next event is the Juneteenth Celebration Kickback, there will be music, Juneteenth happy hour, entertainment, and vendors from 9:00 pm to close. The gathering will occur at BB's Tex-Orleans.
Saturday is the main attraction with a fun Juneteenth Festival Celebration in the park. We will have live entertainment, a kid zone, vendors, and food. We will have surprise guests! Sunday, the recognition service will be located at Silverlake Church during the 10:00 am services. Then we will close out our experience celebration with the Wave of Freedom Juneteenth mixer at KNP Social Wednesday from 6 to 9pm.
