The Preservation of Jazz Monday Night Music Series "Tributes" Presents the Stage Tribute to Josephine Baker Featuring Tiye Stylz is thrilled to announce a special stage tribute to the iconic Josephine Baker on September 30th, featuring the talented Tiye Stylz. This biographical musical, "Josephine," combines cabaret, theatre, and dance to celebrate the life of one of the most remarkable figures of the 20th Century.

Josephine Baker, born in St. Louis in 1906, rose to become the first African-American international superstar. Though she initially found only moderate success in the United States, her move to Europe in 1924 catapulted her to worldwide fame.

Beyond her entertainment career, Josephine Baker also served as a spy for the French Resistance during WWII, was a prominent civil rights activist, and famously adopted 12 children. Her success abroad often shielded her from the racial oppression she faced in her home nation, though she continuously longed for acceptance in America.

Tiye Stylz, an American singer and songwriter hailing from Detroit, Michigan, will take on the role of Josephine Baker in this captivating tribute. With a background in stage plays and performances at esteemed venues like the Detroit Music Hall and New York Beacon Theater, Tiye brings both talent and authenticity to the portrayal of this legendary figure.

Having recorded at renowned studios such as Kenneth "Baby Face" Edmonds' "The TracKen Place" in Hollywood, California, and working with professional dancers at Millennium Dance Complex, Tiye Stylz is poised to deliver a mesmerizing performance that captures the essence of Josephine Baker's charisma and talent.
