The Jane Austen Playlist: Love and Music of Regency England
The program, featuring music from the Austen Family Music Books, offers a glimpse into the mind of this favorite author as she penned her beloved works. All of Jane's literary output, from her letters to her novel’s colorful scenes, expresses music's role in her life. Accomplishment in music by young ladies in Regency England is discussed in the backdrops of the Netherfield drawing room, displayed in the Cole's music room, and delighted in at Sir John Middleton's gatherings.
This performance will be presented on the piazza of the Hand Mansion with seating on the lawn.
About the Performers: The Jane Austen Playlist, founded in 2019, is a historical music project featuring the music of the Austen family in digitized notations, companion recordings, and dramatically narrated performances. Created and directed by Laura Klein and presented by a cast of Lancaster-based performers.
