Jam sessions in the Black music community were vibey feel-good nights in intimate Black spaces —open doors, rotating players, and a shared vocabulary built on call-and-response, swing, and soul—musicianship thrived in real time. For audiences, they were communal rites of passage: raw musical magic unfolding before their eyes, a vivid thread of cultural storytelling.
An ode to jam sessions of the past and and invitation to preserve them for the present, Nostalgia and CTRL R&B present The Jam Session.
