Get ready for another amazing night of music featuring some of Vancouvers best at 2nd Floor Gastown. July 2nd we have none other than The Jake Huse Quartet gracing our stage!
The Jake Huse Quartet is making its debut this jazz fest grooving jazz-blues and favourites by Coltrane, Miles, Mingus and others as well as a selection of choice jazz standards and contemporary, polyrhythmically-inspired originals. Jake Huse has explored the world and its music with his saxophone, living and playing in Montreal, Paris, Mombassa, and Tokyo before settling back in his hometown Vancouver and focussing on jazz life and the rich scene here. His compositions are heavily influenced by the reggae and African music of his early music career, particularly rhythmic elements, and blend these influences with his jazz passions and approach. The most recent recordings of which can be found on Bandcamp with his band The New Vida Blues (https://thenewvidablues.bandcamp.com/album/2-2).
For this show, he is joined by some of the top young jazz stars on the local Vancouver scene: Max Huberdeau on piano; Wynston Minckler on bass; and for the first time, Arvind Ramdas on drums. With such an exciting lineup (full of drummers --Max also works as a drummer and Wynston is so steady he may as well be one), this promises to be a solidly fantastic show.
The 2nd Floor Gastown offers Live Music on Thursdays - Sundays, open during Dinner Service from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Guests may seat for both sets depending on availability and manager discretion.
Dinner Sets:
1st - 6:30pm - 7:45pm
2nd - 8:30pm - 9:45pm
