Film Screening, Panel, and Networking with the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps
About this Event

Join the CUNY SPH Office of Career Services and the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) for a special screening of the award-winning PBS Documentary, “The Invisible Corps: In Service of Health”– highlighting the 200 year history of the USPHS. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion, moderated by Dean Ayman El-Mohandes, and a networking reception. Connect with high-level USPHS Commissioned Officers from top federal agencies, including Centers for Disease and Control (CDC), Federal Drug Administration (FDA), and Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS). This is a great opportunity for public health students, alumni, faculty, and professionals to learn about USPHS career pathways and its extraordinary contributions in public health.

Space is limited. Register today to claim your spot and stay tuned for additional information. Lite refreshments will be served.

To request an accommodation or ASL interpretation, please contact [email protected] by Thursday, April 16th.

About USPHS

Originally created to protect the health of sailors and immigrants in the late 1700s, the USPHS Commissioned Corps' role in healthcare delivery, research, regulation, and disaster relief became critical over time. By the late 20th century, the USPHS Commissioned Corps extended its work internationally, dealing with public health challenges like smallpox, HIV/AIDS, malaria, Ebola, and other infectious diseases. Today, the Corps serves more than 800 locations in over 20 federal departments globally and is trained to respond to urgent public health crises. Over 6,000 officers (and growing) are assigned within operating divisions of the Department of Health and Human Services, with positions available for a wide range of public health professionals including physicians, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, engineers, environmental health officers, scientists, veternarians, and more.
