Please join the Irondequoit Historical Society on Thursday, September 4th as we welcome Jim Dierks to share his love of ‘the Interurban Era’ of 100 years ago. The Interurban Era was a time when high-speed electric trolley cars operated between cities. This period not only marked a revolution in comfortable and convenient travel, but also changed where and how we worked, played and lived. Jim will showcase period photographs from this era as he takes us on a journey from Rochester to Geneva.Jim is a Trustee of the New York Museum of Transportation where he can satisfy his love of "big things that move." He enjoys bringing our area's transportation history to life for visitors of all ages. A Cornell graduate and a Kodak management retiree, when not at the museum Jim works on his 1927 Buick and attempts to keep his century-old house in Rochester in good shape.
