As a former policy advisor in the Obama Administration, Carrie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her writing, offering an unflinching look at how federal policies have influenced Indigenous identity formation over time. The Indian Card reflects on both the personal and collective struggles that Native people face when their very existence is measured by laws and guidelines they didn’t create.

The evening will include a dynamic panel discussion between Carrie and Chef Sean Sherman, founder of The Sioux Chef, Owamni, and NATIFS, exploring the intersections of Native foodways, culture, and identity.
