The Imprint Experience Workshop
About this Event
Step into a centuries-old tradition through an intimate live Gyotaku experience with artist Jacelyn Rene.
Originally practiced by Japanese fishermen to document their catch, Gyotaku has evolved into a celebrated art form that captures the intricate beauty and individuality of marine life. Throughout the evening, you'll witness this rare process unfold in real time as each impression is carefully created by hand, offering a glimpse into both the artistry and history behind the practice.
Guests are invited to engage with the process, ask questions, and experience the craftsmanship firsthand, creating and receiving their own original Gyotaku print to take home - a one-of-a-kind keepsake made during the event. Alongside a curated display of Jacelyn's original works, this immersive experience offers a rare opportunity to connect with an art form that beautifully bridges nature, culture, and contemporary fine art.
More than a workshop, this is an invitation to slow down, observe, and become part of a living tradition - leaving not only with an original piece of art, but with a deeper appreciation for the story each print carries.
