The Importance of Growing Ulu, and Cacao from Pod to Bar

Taylor Kellerman, Director of Diversified Agriculture and Land Stewardship for Kualoa Ranch will present the cultural importance of ʻulu (breadfruit), the propagation of and the varieties with a sampling of ʻulu as a “fishless poke.” He will also give an overview of the growing of cacao in a “pod to bar” concept and have a sampling.

This class will primarily be held indoors at Lyon Arboretum at the Upstairs Visitor Center Classroom. A mask is required in the classroom and other indoor areas. The following are recommended:

• Comfortable shoes with good traction
• Long pants or leggings (to keep mosquitoes off) or mosquito repellent
• Rain jacket, poncho, or light umbrella

Price: $35 ($25 class fee + $10 supply fee)
