Ever wondered how your favourite stop motion films are made?

Illusion of Life is a fun, hands-on workshop where you’ll discover how to bring everyday objects, toys and drawings to life through animation. No experience needed, just bring your imagination!

We’ll explore how stop motion works and learn how tiny movements, captured one frame at a time, can make objects appear to move, jump, dance and even come alive.

Then it’s your turn! Working together, you’ll create your own short animated film using LEGO, paper, clay, drawings and everyday objects. You’ll use an easy-to-learn animation app to bring your ideas to life, with plenty of opportunities to experiment, get creative and have fun along the way.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have made your very own stop motion animation to take home and share with friends and family.

I'm Samuel Carson, a professional stop motion animator, filmmaker and creative facilitator. I recently worked as an animator on the BAFTA-winning short film Two Black Boys in Paradise and have spent the last five years leading hands-on animation workshops across the UK and internationally.
