About this Event

Ever wondered why you find so many rocks when you dig in your Portland garden? You can thank the ice age Missoula Floods for this consternating condition. Learn about when the floods occurred, why they occurred, and how the floods created the landscape we find in our modern-day neighborhoods.

Our speaker for this presentation is Jim O’Connor. He majored in Geological Science at University of Washington and earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at University of Arizona. Since 1991, he has worked at the U.S. Geological Survey.
