Screening as part of GYNOPHOBIA: Monstrous Femininity in 70s and 80s Horror
Explore representations of monstrous women in horror this October. Inspired by Barbara Creed’s concept of the ‘Monstrous-Feminine’, the season looks to embody the formal and stylistic properties of 70s and 80s horror, prompting questions of the societal attitudes embodied in their production and exhibition.
Both an appreciation of the horror genre, and a feminist retrospective, let us examine the roles and representations of women in this pivotal era of film history.
