The HR leadership experience: navigating the daily challenge

In this entertaining and interactive workshop our employment law team will enact and discuss several typical HR scenarios, including a flexible working request, a sickness absence management process, an employee grievance and a “fire and rehire” suggestion from senior management. You’ll have the opportunity to experience first hand both the best practice and the common pitfalls in dealing with situations, and you’ll gain the confidence and skills needed to handle similar issues effectively in the future.

• 12:45 – 14:30 - Presentation on employment law updates following Labour’s bill

Setting the Scene

We will be following a packed working day in the life of Paige Turner, the HR Manager at Big Top Branding Limited, a thriving marketing company based on Teesside. Specialising in creating and implementing strategies to promote products, services and brands, the company is flourishing under the leadership of new CEO Sandy Beech.

We will accompany Paige as she navigates a busy day of meetings with colleagues, each one wanting urgent advice on a different HR issue. We’ll see how Paige deals with the daily challenges and curveballs of daily HR practice and we’ll discuss together how she might have done things differently.

Paige’s day will finish with an update from employment law experts on the changes that are set to come into effect following the release of Labour’s bill.
