Please join the Irondequoit Historical Society on Thursday, April 6th, when we step into the past with Kevin Dorey, Seabreeze Amusement Park's historian, and embark on a journey to discover the rich and fascinating history of this iconic American amusement park. Founded in 1879 as a picnic grove at the end of a steam railroad, Seabreeze has since evolved into one of Western New York's most beloved family destinations. With Kevin's extensive knowledge and expertise, you'll delve into Seabreeze's colorful past through a blend of historic photographs and captivating narrative. Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn about the history of one of America's oldest and most cherished amusement parks, brought to life by an expert guide!
Kevin Dorey is the historian at Seabreeze Amusement Park in Irondequoit. He is an educator and avid amusement park enthusiast with a passion for history. Kevin has been actively researching and documenting Seabreeze for the past seven years. He enjoys talking with people about their memories of Seabreeze, as well as viewing their photographs, home movies, and memorabilia from the park.
The meeting will be held at 7:00 PM in a meeting room on the first floor of the Irondequoit Public Library, 1290 Titus Ave., 14617.
The Library will also Live Stream this program on their website.
Our next meeting will be on May 4th, when Mary Seaman Stevens will present "Cobblestone Structures of Western NY."
