Let Gio DS, along with the help of Harana Kwintet and Simplé will take you through an evening paying homage to the longstanding Filipino tradition of harana: a musical serenade. Expect the best of Filipino music rendered by top Filipino musicians with some originals penned by Gio DS himself.
Dining and Seating
This show runs a Cabaret-style, dinner-and-show format at Makilala.
If you would like to sit with friends that bought their tickets on a separate transaction, please email us.
For general ticket holders, doors open at 9:00 PM*, with Soundcheck Experience holders will be invited to dine between 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM to enjoy the complete menu at Makilala.
Curated selects from the menu will be available during the show. A meal credit is applied at checkout for General Admission ticket holders, which can be used at the event for food (beverages are not eligible towards the credit)
We appreciate punctuality as seating is arranged in advance, and day-of adjustments (including late arrivals wanting to rejoin their group) will not be accommodated. Once the show has started, no late entry to avoid disrupting the performers.

General Admission tickets come with a $10 meal credit/per ticket built in.
Dining Experience holders agree to $25 minimum spend/per person to use for the full menu at Makilala, paid day-of-show.

ARTISTS
Gio DS
Gio Delos Santos aka Gio DS is a Filipino multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, producer, and arranger based in Toronto, Canada. He is known for his experience in multiple crafts, including piano performance, sound design, production, and arranging. Gio can be found playing different roles in many groups across the GTA.His latest project, Harana Kwintet, Vol. 1, showcases his songwriting and production skills and his deep admiration for the Harana and Kundiman art forms in the Philippines. The EP conveys his journey of what it means to be a haranista in this modern day and age.
Harana Kwintet
Backing Gio DS is Harana Kwintet, a folk-fusion group that fuses traditional Filipino styles of music with modern grooves and harmony. Founded by Gio Delos Santos and Matthew Tenedero, they collect different folk songs from the Philippines that inspire them to write new arrangements and compositions. The quintet takes multiple influences from not only classic Filipino composers/arrangers such as Eddie Munji III and Ryan Cayabyab, but also jazz music pioneers such as Herbie Hancock and Miles Davis. Harana Kwintet has been featured at the Toronto Undergraduate Jazz Festival and on Filipino TV.
Simplé
Simplé is a Toronto-based band blending R&B, pop, and global influences into a sound shaped by diaspora, community, and musical curiosity. Formed in 2023 by Alaina Ardiente, Malou Gloria, Kevin Sia, and Matthew Reyes, Simplé has performed across the Greater Toronto Area for audiences like Toyota Canada, Amazon Canada, the City of Mississauga with RBC, and the City of Pickering. In November 2025, the band convened and headlined HERE/THERE: Sounds of a Filipino Diaspora at Rec Room Square One, a concert supported by the City of Mississauga featuring fellow Filipino diasporic artists gee. and Harana Kwintet. Their performance at Makilala will feature guitarist, Rhowin Dacut (Banana Sundaze, Creating Encounters).
