Educators will have an opportunity to collaborate in a special way through a magic maker space and interactive professional development. Our hope is to ignite the drive back into educators to feel inspired and refreshed--Happy to get back into the classroom!

Day 1- Curiosity & Confidence

Curiosity- A strong desire to know or learn

Introductions: Get to know each other

Define Risk Taking: Creating positive learning environments, discuss ways to provide various support to scaffold learning and meet diverse needs, define being authentic teachers while handling instructional expectations.

Fears and Hopes Protocol: Develop collaboration protocols by establishing our norms of ownership for this 3 day conference.

Risk Self-Assessment: When was the last time you took a risk professionally? Personally?

Discussion Panel: You, the participant, are the panel on risk taking in the classroom.

Confidence- A feeling of self-assurance from one's appreciation of own abilities

Case Study: Discover Walt Disney’s original idea for the Western River Expedition and how it failed to be built. What can we learn from our risks and even mistakes?

Feed Forward: Using Marshall Goldsmith’s concept of using FeedForward instead of Feedback. Stop looking into the past and get excited about what we can learn and do with our future.

It’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow: Prepare for tomorrow with lessons on a de-conference (you get a choice). What would you like to learn? What would you like to teach?

Day 2- Courage

Courage - The ability to do something that frightens one

Meet in the Wyndham Garden Hotel lobby for a group picture and then take the bus to the Magic Kingdom

Yes! This is part of the conference.

Magic Tour of Disney World: Taking what we learned together on Day 1, we will get a special glimpse at how Disney brings the magic to life through an exclusive tour.

Assignment: Find inspiration for your classroom and career during this unique tour. You will be sharing your ideas collectively tomorrow.

Lunch will be provided

Day 3- Constancy

Constancy - The quality of being faithful and dependable; Unchanging or unwavering as in purpose

Establishing Protocol: As a whole group, determine what you will be teaching and what you would like to learn. Use the information and discussions over the last 2 days and the Behind the Magic Tour.

Collaboration: Work in groups, like a Professional Learning Community (PLC), to develop your professional development/presentation. Purpose and Outline due before lunch.

Working Lunch: Lunch is not provided; however, your group may finalize their presentation while enjoying food at Disney Springs which is located very close to the Wyndham.

Teach and Learn: All done by you, the participants! Each group will present one idea that we can take back with us.

Take Aways: You have defined your ability to take risks, created goals and a way to assess with your own rubric, taken home at least 6 magically inspired ideas for the classroom, and established a new community of educators for on going support.
