Meet Laura

Laura de Franchis is a climate activist, humanitarian, monitoring and evaluation specialist, facilitator and coach. She is the founder of The Alternatives Factory, an independent consultancy in The Hague that helps purpose-driven organisations and people create lasting change. Today she works as a social entrepreneur, researching what actually makes change happen and what makes it fail, while continuing to lead evaluations for international organisations.

Laura trained as an agronomist and soil scientist before spending more than two decades working across Asia, Africa and Europe, including in Laos, Pakistan, Rwanda, Nepal and Thailand, Italy and Switzerland with the World Food Programme and the International Labour Organization. Along the way her focus shifts between systems and programmes to the people who carry them, and to what it takes to sustain change over time. She is driven by a commitment to social justice.
