The Gumbo Shop Chico is turning one, and we could not be more grateful, proud, or excited to celebrate this milestone with you.
What started as a dream, a pot of gumbo, and a whole lot of hope has grown into something truly special. Our first year has been a huge success because of the people who showed up, brought friends, bought plates, told stories, shared posts, came back hungry, and helped us build something real here in Chico. Now it’s time to celebrate properly.
We’re bringing back the same big Cajun shrimp boil experience from our last event, and this time we’re making it even bigger.
Each ticket includes a serious spread: 2 pounds of boiled shrimp, 2 pounds of “groceries” — sausage, corn, and potatoes — 16 ounces of potato salad, cornbread, crawfish pies imported from Natchitoches, Louisiana, and one slice of caramel pecan cheesecake per person.
We’ll also have The Gumbo Shop birthday cake available for anyone who wants a slice, because what’s a first birthday without cake?
We’re working on bringing in a live band, the food is going to be stacked, and the whole night is meant to feel like a proper Cajun celebration: loud, generous, joyful, and full of flavor.
