As the Spring 2024 series continues, the Green Room welcomes Zenaida on Thursday 9th May. Zenaida will be playing music from their forthcoming EP Rococo Flourishes, to be released this summer. Recorded as a trio featuring Amy Bowles (Guitars), Andy Patterson (Double Bass) and Pat Selden (Percussion).Zenaida began when Amy met Pat while playing in a Bateria or Brazilian Samba band, and they took the effervescent energy of their street band and poured it into a duo. As their shared love for music from all over Central and South America gathered momentum, they began exploring music from Cuba, Argentina, Venezuela, Uruguay, and their beloved Brazil.
With Andy joining on Double Bass the trio immersed themselves in the canon of solo guitar music from the last hundred years and created unique interpretations of these stunning works. The group is joined this evening by Borna Kuća (Mandolin) for a glorious set of traditional Brazilian choros from the 1800s.
This Manchester based group will fill the space at the Green Room with evocative harmonies and infectious rhythms that may carry your imagination, even for a short while, to warmer and exotic places.
Green Room are curators of intimate acoustic performances, bringing some of the best players into a space that allows the instruments to reverberate your bodies without the use of electricity.
