About the speaker:
Jake Wareing is a 4th generation gym owner, coach, and community builder dedicated to helping people achieve their highest potential. As the owner of Wareing’s Gym and President of the John Wareing Foundation, Jake continues a family legacy that began in 1923 when his great grandfather, Bill Wareing, started his career in New York City as a physical culturist. That legacy was later cemented in Virginia Beach when his grandfather, John Wareing, opened the city’s first modern fitness facility in 1960.
Having spent more than 25 years in the fitness industry, Jake has worked with thousands of individuals ranging from everyday adults and families to athletes, military personnel, and first responders. His approach blends timeless principles of discipline, personal responsibility, and social connection with modern training, nutrition, and performance science.
Jake is the creator and host of the “Where the Beach Gets Fit” podcast, where he shares stories and insights from local leaders, entrepreneurs, coaches, and changemakers who are helping build healthier communities throughout Virginia Beach. Through his work, he advocates for a vision where fitness serves as a catalyst for stronger families, thriving businesses, and a more resilient community.
Jake identifies as a physical culturist and is a lifelong student of human performance. His goal is to help people become stronger, healthier, and more capable versions of themselves.
