The Great Train Chase is on! Meet at 10.10am, by the little white church outside Sellwood Park (SE Grand and SE Spokane). We will jog down to the Springwater Trail and race the holiday train on it’s return leg to the Tilikum bridge, starting around 10:20 - 10:25am. We will then chase the 10:54am streetcar over the Tilikum bridge to SW Moody and Parkway, before jogging along the waterfront. Faster runners can race the max line from SW 1st and Yamhill over the Steel Bridge; otherwise, you can jog back across the Hawthorne or Morrison Bridge to the Tilikum Bridge. We will finish by racing the 11.30am holiday train back to Sellwood. The total distance including the Steel Bridge is 10.6 miles; it is 9.8 miles going over the Morrison. If you want a shorter option, you could skip either the first or second leg against the holiday train.
You are encouraged to wear festive attire and may otherwise be forced to wear a Santa hat, reindeer antlers or something sillier. There may be prizes for people who beat the train, if we get our act together.
Afterwards we will go for a late breakfast / early lunch / coffee somewhere in Sellwood.
