The Great Indian Carnival

For the first time in the history of Ottawa, the South Asian community is taking over a 200-acre historic estate for one unforgettable Sunday.

The Great Indian Carnival is not a club night, not a banquet hall event, not a parking-lot mela. It's a full-scale country carnival held on the grounds of Strathmere — a 200-acre pastoral estate just outside Ottawa that's been hosting weddings, retreats and getaways since 1979, on land that's been a working farm since 1825. We've booked the whole property for August 2.

You get the 1860s stone farmhouse, the restored 1860s barn, century-old walnut trees, organic gardens, a butterfly garden that catches the monarch migration, walking trails, fire pits — all of it — for nine straight hours.

Strathmere is home to a 6,000 sq ft Wellness Retreat & Spa in the middle of the property — surrounded by wildflowers, old trees, and silence. Carnival guests can book add-on spa experiences:
