About this Event

Things are hotting up at our hotel on the hill, as we welcome six Cornish chefs to showcase their culinary skills and represent their corner of the county in The Great Coast-to-Coast Charity Cook Off. On 7th November, take your seat in The Great Hall for our charity dinner, and help us raise money for Hospitality Action.

The Alverton kitchen will be bursting at the seams with local talent in this friendly evening of exceptional food prepared by some of the best chefs in the south west.

Who’s cooking?

First up we have chef veteran and in-house talent Nick Hodges - our very own Executive Chef at our three hotels, The Alverton, The Greenbank and The Falmouth. With a home advantage, Nick will be representing central Cornwall and our great little city with an amuse bouche to warm up everyone’s taste buds, setting the high standard for the evening.

The all important main course of the evening is in the safe hands of not one, but two chef extraordinaires repping for west Cornwall. Head Chef and owner of Kota and Kota Kai in Porthleven, Jude Kereama will be treating us to his signature Asian twist on delectable Cornish seafood, alongside Australian chef Mick Smith, Executive Chef at St Ives hotspot Porthminster Cafe - also famed for his creative seafood creations.

The rest of the line up includes a whole host of culinary stars...

Guy Owen, Executive Chef at St Enodoc Hotel in Rock, will also join us. Representing the north Cornish coastline, Guy is no stranger to working in Michelin star restaurants and winning awards. His signature style sees French and Asian influences adopted into his Cornish cuisine.

Flying the flag for south Cornwall is Tim Kendall. Crowned South West Chef of the Year in 2018, Tim has worked alongside some impressive names in the industry, including Paul Ainsworth, Michel Roux Junior, and Chris Eden throughout his career - before pursuing his dream of owning his own restaurant. He and his wife opened The Barley Sheaf in Gorran back in 2020.

Rounding things off in the east Cornish coast corner is Looe born and bred chef Ben Palmer. You might recognise him from BBC’s Great British Menu, Ben heads up his own restaurant in his hometown – The Sardine Factory. With plenty of awards in culinary performance under his belt, we can’t wait to see what Ben chooses to serve as the grand finale of the evening.

Raising money for Hospitality Action

All of the proceeds from our charity supper club will be donated to Hospitality Action, an organisation close to our hearts that offers support for all hospitality workers, helping them back on their feet during challenging times - whether that’s poor physical or mental health issues, financial troubles, battles with addiction or problems at home.

Tickets for our charity dinner

Tickets are £90 per person and include entry to The Great Hall and a seat at our dinner party, four courses served by six award-winning chefs from across the county, plus paired drinks.
