Help Central Library celebrate two things librarians love— the 100-year-old classic novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and.... CATS! Stop by the first floor from 1-4 pm and participate in a variety of crafts and activities for all ages. Dress up in roaring '20s gear, wear your favorite cat-themed clothing items, or put together a 'fit combining the two.Schedule of Individual Events:
Children’s Library: Kids and Families- stop by to make a ‘20s inspired hat or headband and decorate it with cute cat charms!
Teen Lounge: Ages 11-17- stop by the Teen Lounge to make a DIY cat toy.
Auditorium Lobby: All ages- Join SLPL for delicious mocktails and a showing of the short film Lackadaisy, in which a struggling St Louis speakeasy and its crew of cat gangsters figure out how to make ends meet in the Roaring Twenties. Rated TV-PG. Showings start every half hour!
Science and Technology: All ages - stop by Science & Technology to decorate a pot in 1920’s decor, then plant your own cat grass to take home!
Movies & Music: All ages- stop by Movies & Music to listen to jazz music, both classic and contemporary, and see if you can find all the hidden cool cats on display.
Creative Experience: All ages- Bring a photo of your beloved pet into Creative Experience and create a Roaring 20s-style pet portrait- then print it out on our large format printer!
