Join your fellow fans of fiction at Bookmaze mesa for the first ever Bookmaze FictionSlam! Authors with a published fiction book are invited to sign up for the event happening Saturday, April 27th, 2024 from 1pm-4pm.10 Authors will compete for a first place prize consisting of $100, a Bookmaze sponsored social media campaign and an exclusive catered Book signing at Bookmaze. Prizes for second ($50), Third ($30) and fourth place ($10 Gift Certificate from Renegade Coffee) will also be awarded.
Authors will compete in 3 rounds, reading a 90 second sample from their published work, and being judged by 5 judges on content and performance. The second round will feature the top 7 writers reading a separate 90 second section from the same book, and the Third round will feature the top 4 writers reading a separate 90 second segment from the same book.
Scores from the 5 judges will be compiled, with the highest and lowest of the scores being dropped, and the remaining 3 scores added together for their total for that round. The final order is based on their cumulative total across the 3 rounds.
In addition to winning their respective prizes, the top four will also be featured on the “Bookmaze Shelf of Glory!” For 90 days for patrons to find and enjoy their work.
