Advancing Adolescent Girls’ Education, Health & Empowerment in East Africa.

Globally, 129 million girls are out of school and one in three women experience gender-based violence—often beginning in adolescence. In East Africa, the numbers are equally stark: 9 million girls are out of school, 35 percent marry before 18, and 65 percent lack access to basic menstrual supplies.

The Girls’ Agenda 2025 convenes regional leaders, practitioners, donors, and—most importantly—adolescent girls themselves to design solutions that close these gaps and unlock new opportunities.

Conference Objectives
  1. Celebrate, Collaborate, Co-CreateCommemorate the International Day of the Girl Child through a regional forum that fosters collaborative innovation, bringing together adolescent girls, advocates, practitioners, and leaders for shared learning and co‑creation.
  2. Center Voices and Build NetworksElevate adolescent girls by placing them at the heart of decision‑making—and cultivate meaningful networks across sectors to amplify impact and co-designed solutions.
  3. Catalyze Cross-Sector PartnershipsStrengthen active, learning-oriented alliances—co-created by regional leaders, funders, grassroots organizations, and young people—focused on delivering measurable gains in girls’ education, health, and socio-economic inclusion.
