The Gift of Plasma: Donor Safety, Patient Need, and the Lifesaving Role of
Join the Congressional Plasma Caucus and the Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA) for a congressional briefing exploring the critical role plasma donors play in helping patients with rare, chronic, and serious medical conditions access lifesaving plasma-derived therapies.
This discussion will provide congressional staff with an inside look at the plasma donation process, from donation to finished medicine, and the safeguards in place to protect donor health and safety. Panelists will discuss FDA oversight, donor eligibility and health screening, industry safety and quality standards, and why a strong and sustainable plasma donor base is essential to meeting patient need.
Attendees will also hear directly from a plasma donor and an Alpha-1 patient about their experiences and the important connection between those who donate plasma and the patients who rely on plasma-derived therapies.
