Join UPMC Harrisburg Kidney Transplant Program living donor coordinators, Tiffany Conroy, BSN, RN, CCTC, and Jackie Stifler, BSN, RN, CCTC, for a free, in-person community education class on the living kidney donation process.
Living-donor kidney transplant can help someone with kidney failure receive a transplant sooner, without having to spend time on the national waitlist. At this free educational event, you will have the chance to learn:
• How living-donor kidney transplant works, and what living donation means.
• Who is involved in a donor’s care.
• How the testing and transplant evaluation process works.
• The potential benefits and risks of living donation.
• What to expect during transplant surgery, recovery, and follow-up care.
• The difference between direct donation, paired exchange, and non-directed donation.
• What financial considerations to make and what resources are available for assistance.
Whether you’re simply curious, considering donation, or supporting someone who is, we hope this event provides helpful information, answers your questions, and gives you a better understanding of what it truly means to give the gift of life. Guests are welcome and light refreshments will be provided.
Registration is required. To register, visit https://events.pinnaclehealth.org/wlp2/classes/info/CPG00ADH or call 717-231-8700.
