George Cruz is a jazz pianist and composer based in Richmond, Virginia. Born in Norfolk and raised in the Philippines, George brings a wide cultural perspective and a deep love for the Black American musical tradition to his playing. His sound is rooted in the jazz of the 1940s and beyond, colored by soul, gospel, and modern harmony, always aiming for beauty, swing, and honesty. He is also an experienced educator and mentor.
When he is not at the piano, George can usually be found on the basketball court or working as a private chef. His clientele consists of his wife and their two year old son.
