The Gavin Worland Big Band @ Roots Music Project

Founded in 2022, The Gavin Worland Big Band is a 19-piece jazz orchestra comprised of the finest young musical talent within and around the greater Denver metro area. Members of the G.W.B.B. are active members within the Colorado jazz scene playing, composing, and studying with & from one another constantly from schools such as the University of Colorado, University of Denver, University of Northern Colorado, & Metropolitan State University of Denver. The G.W.B.B. has regularly performed at and sold out venues such as Dazzle, The Roots Music Project, and others.

This ensemble gives younger musicians a professional setting to highlight the budding new stars of the next generation of musicians in their writing, arranging, performing, and professionalism with constant opportunities to compose and arrange for the band to help keep pushing the sounds of the large jazz ensemble forward.

At the helm of this group is Gavin Worland, a 22 year-old trumpeter, composer, arranger, bandlead, producer, and educator based out of the Denver area. A recent graduate of Metropolitan State University of Denver, Gavin is currently pursuing his Master's in Jazz Performance from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver studying under individuals such as Annie Booth, Remy LeBouef, Art Bouton, Zach Rich, and many more of the finest musicians in the Colorado. Gavin has been a featured recording artist and played in a wide variety of ensembles ranging from mariachi, big band, soundpainting, to rock and hip hop.
