About this Event
San Mateo County Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Prevention is working on a Strategic Prevention Plan to educate community members about alcohol and other drug use hazards with the goal to lower youth use of alcohol and other drugs.
San Mateo County AOD has partnered with Bay Area Community Health Advisory Council (BACHAC) to facilitate a community assessment to understand the social and environmental factors that contribute or prevent substance use disorder (SUD) in the African American Community in San Mateo County.
The Community Assessment was designed , planned, and implemented by the African American Design and Planning Committee (AAPD). AAPD Committee was composed of Black/African American youth, young adults, elders, community leaders, and residents across San Mateo County. Also, AAPD Committee represents the diverse community of African Americans in San Mateo County.
We are excited to share compelling findings and stories from our local African American/Black youth on cultural practices along with strategies and ideas that support their health. Join us for a celebration of our truly community-based and participatory Community Assessment.
The Gathering will:
- Celebrate the Black/African American Community Assessment;
- Share report, findings and recommendations for substance abuse prevention in African American/Black youth and Community in San Mateo County.
Please arrive early at 3:30pm to enjoy the Black Culture through food. connect with others, and experience the beauty of community! The program will start promptly at 4:00pm.
