About this Event
On 26th January 1926, John Logie Baird gave the first public demonstration of true television images and television as we know it was born.
To mark this momentous occasion, Bournemouth University has invited four incredible voices to share their views on what the next 100 years might look like. Each of our speakers has a unique and well-informed perspective on the medium and where it is headed.
If you work in TV, or film, or content creation, or want to; or even if you’re simply an avid viewer and participant in modern society, this will be an interesting way to spend an afternoon.
Speakers:
Laura Ellis — Head of Technology Forecasting, BBC
Once a BBC News journalist with a focus on emerging technology, Laura now focuses her energy on establishing and communicating the BBC's long-term technology perspective.
Luke Hymas — Co-Founder, Pangaea
Previously Head of Original Content at YouTube, Luke is the co-founder of the independent production company Pangaea, the team behind the hugely successful Netflix documentary The Sidemen Story.
Zoe Harkness — Head of Partnerships, Thinkbox
With a career spanning ITV, Channel 4 and Sky, Zoe developed a well-rounded appreciation of all that TV has to offer. And her time working at a global media agency instilled in Zoe valuable insights related to sponsorship and branded content. Now with Thinkbox she spreads the word of the effectiveness and brilliance of TV advertising.
Each speaker will present a view, which is wholly their own, and then after a short break, they’ll join Matt Desmier for a panel discussion.
Opportunities to hear opinions like these don’t come along very often.
Held at Bournemouth University, this event will be in Poole Gateway Building, Bournemouth University, Talbot Campus, Fern Barrow, BH12 5BB.
