The Future of the Amazon: Launch of the SPA Youth Advisory Committee

The Science Panel for the Amazon (SPA) is excited to host a special side event during the UN Summit of the Future entitled “The Future of the Amazon: Launch of the SPA Youth Advisory Committee.” This significant event will gather the inaugural members of the SPA Youth Advisory Committee (YAC), young scientists and leaders selected from nearly 300 applicants, to discuss and promote the conservation of the Amazon through the voices and experiences of the next generation.

The event will feature inspiring messages from the SPA leadership and distinguished guests, and the official launch of the Committee. The discussions will emphasize the importance of youth engagement in addressing the challenges facing the Amazon, including deforestation, climate change, and the protection of Indigenous rights.

This event aims to foster collaboration, inspire action, and spotlight the innovative ideas that these young leaders bring to Amazon conservation efforts. Following the main event, a reception will offer opportunities for networking and further dialogue.
