About this Event

This event will also serve as the ST6-ST7 residents regional teaching for NW London.
This landmark event will bring together residents, nurses, consultants, patient advocates, and leaders in women’s health to enhance clinical expertise, amplify lived experience, and advance equitable, high‑quality fibroid care across the NHS.

Why This Event Matters

Uterine fibroids affect millions of women across the UK and are a major driver of inequality in women’s health. Black women are disproportionately affected, often experiencing more severe disease, delayed diagnosis and higher rates of invasive interventions. Despite rapid progress in medical, minimally invasive and surgical treatments, many clinicians—particularly those in training—have limited exposure to the full range of diagnostic and therapeutic options.

This event is designed to close that gap, strengthen confidence in clinical decision‑making, and support a more compassionate, patient‑centred approach to fibroid care.

What This Programme Will Deliver

• Cutting‑edge Clinical Teaching on UK Treatment Innovations

Experts will present the latest evidence and advances across the full treatment spectrum—from new medical therapies to minimally invasive techniques and surgical pathways—ensuring attendees are fully informed on best practice in 2026.

• Exclusive Screening of Mango

We will showcase Mango, the award‑winning short film that powerfully captures the emotional, physical and social realities of living with fibroids, including delayed diagnosis and barriers to care.

This will be followed by a live interview with the award-wining director Joan Iyiola.

• Lived‑Experience Storytelling

The award wining fibroid advocate Dawn Heels will be sharing with the clinicians about what her experience was with fibroids and what she wants every gynaecologist to know. She will be offering invaluable insights into communication, trust and holistic care.

• Service Development and National Guidance

We will explore the evolving fibroid service at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital alongside the RCOG and BSGE national position on uterine fibroids. We will also discuss the landmark CAHN Fibroid Network recommendations, which highlight the urgent need to address disparities in diagnosis, treatment and outcomes for women affected by fibroids.

We are delighted to be joined by MP Paulette Hamilton, a longstanding advocate for tackling health inequalities and improving outcomes in women’s health.
