About this Event

As twilight settles over Biscayne Bay, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens transforms into something extraordinary—a luminous garden of meaning shaped by the hands of your neighbors, your city, your community.

The Fruit We Bear—Studio Vizcaya’s summer finale—invites you to wander among glowing, larger-than-life fruit sculptures and experience the collective creativity of hundreds of Miami residents, brought vividly to life beneath the night sky.

About the Evening
Over the course of several weeks of free community workshops, participants of all ages and backgrounds collaborated with acclaimed multidisciplinary artist Shawna Moulton to create nine monumental papier-mâché fruit sculptures—orange, grapefruit, mango, avocado, banana, papaya, lychee, and carambola (star fruit), among others.

Each sculpture embodies a shared human value—love, joy, peace, patience, hope, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-love, and goodness.

Evening Schedule
7:00 p.m. | Gather at Vizcaya Village to join the procession. Create a paper lantern, enjoy food offerings, and prepare to move to the rhythm of a samba-inspired parade led by Miamibloco.
8:15 p.m. | The procession travels from Vizcaya Village to the Main House and Gardens.
8:30 p.m. | Explore the illuminated installation, create art, and discover the community stories behind each sculpture.

PRESERVATION IN PROGRESS
To ensure Vizcaya Museum and Gardens remain beautiful, safe, and accessible for another 100 years, we are actively restoring and reinforcing key areas of the estate. As a result, portions of the Main House and Gardens may be temporarily closed. We appreciate your understanding and invite you to explore how we’re investing in Vizcaya’s future here.
