NATURE AS METAPHOR /A WRITING WORKSHOP
led by OlaRonke Akinmowo
In this month's writing workshop, we will explore how Nature is used as a metaphor and theme in literature
Nature is healing, medicine, unpredictable, ever changing. Nature is scary, devastating, beautiful. Nature is water, air, skin, fur, fire, rocks. Nature is neccesary. Nature is complicated. Nature is us.
A ll participants are welcome to bring a piece of writing, a song, a film summary, or an image to that offers an example of how Nature can serve as a direct illustration of our lives. Let us also remember the intersections of Blackness, poverty and urban living.
How do we engage with the natural world?
How does living in a "concrete jungle" impact our relationship with nature?
Folks are invited to be part of the conversation as well as take part in two 20-minute writing sprints, with a session of open sharing and positive feedback (if desired) after each one.
