Anyone up for a morning stroll through a cemetery? The Newberry Cemetery is a hotspot for red headed woodpeckers and has been known for the occasional sightings of owls and flickers. While Newberry is a bit of a drive for some of us, we’ll make the trip worth our while with an additional stop at the Alachua Conservation Trust’s Saarinen Preserve only 13 minutes from the cemetery. Carpooling is always encouraged, so please feel free to reach out for a ride by leaving a comment. The Gator game does start at noon the day of this event, so the walk will end by 10:30 so those who want to cheer on the team can make it back in time! ? ? ?
What to Expect:
We’ll have easy/flat trails with a little shade.
What to Bring:
Bug spray is always necessary. Also wear boots or sneakers as the trails might be muddy if we have rain the night before. As always we’ll have extra binoculars.
