About the Programme
The Straits Times' HeadSTart is bringing together a panel of experts to explore the merits and drawbacks of the FIRE (financial independence, retire early) movement, which has gained a large following among young people in Singapore. They will also discuss other personal finance strategies and tips for people at different life stages. Please bring along your curiosity and questions! After the discussion, stick around to network with the panelists and journalists from the HeadSTart team.

About the Speakers
Lorna Tan
Head of Financial Planning Literacy, DBS Bank
Lorna Tan is the Head of Financial Planning Literacy at DBS Bank. Prior to joining DBS, she was the Invest Editor at The Straits Times and The Sunday Times. She is the author of four bestsellers: Money Smart – Own Your Financial Destiny; Retire Smart – Financial Planning Made Easy; More Talk Money and Talk Money. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Finance at NUS Business School.
Over the years, Lorna has won numerous awards for her business journalistic work. They include the Investor Education award in 2016, the Financial Journalist of the Year award in 2007, and the Financial Story of the Year award in 2005, awarded by the Securities Investors Association of Singapore. She was also a runner-up for the Excellence in Public Journalism category, and a winner in Excellence in Business Reporting, awarded by Hong Kong-based Society of Publishers in Asia in 2006 and 2004.

Co-founder, The Woke Salaryman
Ruiming is also a Council Member of the 17th National Youth Council, and was recognised in the Gen T 2021 List as a Leader of Tomorrow shaping Asia’s Future.
Aaron Chwee
Head of Wealth Advisory, OCBC Bank
Aaron Chwee is a seasoned professional with 23 years of experience in the financial industry. He currently serves as the Head of Wealth Advisory at OCBC and covers a wide scope which includes macro views, investment strategies and personal financial planning. Prior to OCBC, he was the Head of Investment Strategy & Communications with UOB.

Alyssa Woo
Assistant Business Editor with The Straits Times
Alyssa reports on a range of topics, including personal finance, fintech, companies and hospitality/retail. Prior to joining the Business desk, she was a video journalist producing features, hosting live news shows, and also reported on the retail and design scene at Life.
