About this Event
For many of us, Joni Mitchell provided the soundtrack for our lives -- along with other great Canadian singer-songwriters such as Leonard Cohen, Neil Young and Robbie Robertson. Her poetry, unique sound and insights captured us in those classics "Both Sides Now," "River," "A Case of You," and "Blue."
But her music has constantly evolved. For Back Lane Studios' Extraordinary Women event in October, we're screening a documentary produced by the siblings Clara and Julia Kuperberg, Joni Mitchell, Lady Blue. The film, which gathered a wealth of archival footage, highlights the changing styles of Joni that matched the ups and downs of her life.
We are thrilled to have music historian, producer and York University professor Rob Bowman for our Q&A following the documentary. He will explore Joni's style and discuss how her work has evolved in recent years.
Rob has been our guest speaker for several past Extraordinary Women events: Jackie Shane, Janis Joplin and Janis Ian.
This presentation about Joni Mitchell is another in Back Lane Studios' series of screenings and discussions about Extraordinary Women.
Tickets are by suggested donation ($16). When buying tickets with a donation, you can only purchase one at a time.
