The Experience VI

An evening of Gospel Music honoring the legends who built it. Join the Gospel Music Cultural Arts Center for The Experience VI: A Tribute to the National Gospel Legends, our annual benefit concert, on Sunday, November 29, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at New Faith Church, featuring special guest Melvin Williams and other Gospel artists. This year we honor the pioneers whose voices, songs and vision built Gospel Music and carried it to the world.

• Thomas A. Dorsey: the “Father of Gospel Music,” whose “Take My Hand, Precious Lord” became a hymn for generations.

• Mahalia Jackson: the “Queen of Gospel,” who brought the sound of the Black church to the world’s greatest stages.

• Rev. James Cleveland: the “King of Gospel,” who founded the Gospel Music Workshop of America.

• Dr. Mattie Moss Clark: the choir director and composer who reshaped choir harmony and raised The Clark Sisters.

• Clara Ward: leader of the Famous Ward Singers, whose powerful style inspired gospel and soul singers alike.

• Albertina Walker: founder of The Caravans and a mentor to many of gospel’s brightest stars.

• Andraé Crouch: the visionary songwriter behind “Soon and Very Soon” and “The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power”.

• Edwin Hawkins: whose “Oh Happy Day” carried gospel music onto the pop charts and around the world.

• Walter Hawkins: pastor, composer and creator of the beloved “Love Alive” recordings.

Though these legends have gone on to glory, their music lives on. On this special evening, today’s Gospel artists will take the stage to perform the songs these pioneers gave us, bringing their timeless music to life for a new generation.

Every ticket makes a difference. Proceeds support the Gospel Music Cultural Arts Center’s mission to preserve and share the history of Gospel Music. Come celebrate the legacy, sing along to the songs you love, and be part of an unforgettable night. Questions? Contact us at [email protected] or visit www.gmcac.org.
