About this Event

Get ready for an unforgettable night of 'edutainment' with The Evolution of Jamaican Popular Music, a live and interactive journey led by celebrated Jamaican-Canadian guitarist and cultural specialist, Maurice Gordon and Friends.

This is more than a concert—it's a vibrant, living story. Maurice and his powerhouse band will guide you through the decades, from the folksy rhythms of Mento and the joyful energy of Ska, to the cool vibes of Rocksteady, the global heartbeat of Reggae, and the driving force of Dancehall. You'll hear the iconic songs and learn about the pioneers who shaped each revolutionary sound.

Featuring the incredible talents of Michael Kennedy on bass, Koriq on keyboards, and the legendary Oniel "Drummie" Fuller on drums, the performance is elevated by the soulful stylings of a special guest singer.

Best of all, you are part of the show! Feel the riddim and hit the dance floor, sing along to timeless anthems, and connect with the artists during a Q&A session. This is a joyful celebration of Jamaican culture, music, and its everlasting influence—perfect for aficionados and curious newcomers alike.
