About this Event

About this workshop:

Successful private practice requires the understanding of running a small business as well as proven clinical skills and has many ethical considerations. This workshop was developed to support counseling psychology students and licensed clinicians who are interested in learning about the essential steps of establishing a private counseling practice as well as to explore these important ethical considerations. This workshop offering is put together as a collaboration of the graduate counseling programs at the University of Southern Maine, the University at Farmington, Husson University, and Wisdom Journeys, LLC called the Intercollegiate Workshop Series. Participants will receive certificates with 4 contact hours in Ethics.

  • Participants will gain a basic understanding of the key elements in marketing a private practice
  • Participants will learn about the ethical considerations involved in running a private practice
  • Participants will learn about the potential issues involved in opening a practice, managing the necessary paperwork, and working with insurance companies
