In Ireland, January 6th is famously known as Nollaig na mBan (pronounced Null-ug nuh Mon), which translates to Women's Christmas. Women gathered at each other's houses or local pubs to rest, drink tea, eat cake, and socialize.
In lieu of our annual holiday party I am putting a little spin on our next Maker’s Market with a Women’s Christmas in honor of the Epiphany.
The Rule: Each guest brings three small gifts to share, inspired by the gold, frankincense, and myrrh of the Magi.
The Meaning: The three items must each represent wealth or treats (gold), sweet scents or self-care (frankincense), and healing or comfort (myrrh).
The Exchange: Guests place their wrapped items (so we cannot see them) on a central table. Everyone draws a number and takes turns picking three new items to take home.
Gift Ideas for the Three Categories
*Gold (Value, Fun, or Treats):
-Chocolate gold coins
-Lottery scratch-off tickets
-Small gold-wrapped candle
-Gold trinkets
* Frankincense (Scents and Atmosphere):
-Scented soaps or lotions
-Incense cones or essential oils
-Wax melts or room sprays
* Myrrh (Comfort and Healing):
* Herbal teas or honey sticks
* Lip balm or hand cream
* Cozy fuzzy socks
Recommend you spend no less than $30 and no more than $50 on ALL items combined!!
Asking that everyone who signs up pay a $5 nonrefundable fee to hold their spot. I will purchase tea, cake and other holiday treats and paper goods for us to enjoy the festivities together.
Open to 10 ladies including me Only!
