The Enduring Role of Los Alamos National Laboratory in National Security

Recent geopolitical conditions have put Los Alamos National Laboratory’s national and global security missions in high demand. Coupled with the release of last year’s “Oppenheimer” feature film, the institution’s visibility on a global scale is perhaps higher today than it has ever been since World War II. In the next Berkeley Risk and Security Laboratory's Director Speaker Series, LANL Director Thom Mason will discuss his organization’s journey from the Manhattan Project to the Cold War, to the post-Cold War era, and into what might be called America’s post-post-Cold War era, explaining how its programs and objectives continue to be shaped by global events and national policy in its “Fourth Age.”
