Chroma is delighted to present a concert this year entitled 'The End of the Line', at the beautiful Armenian Church in Singapore.
Our programme commemorates the anniversaries of two major polyphonic composers, Orlando Gibbons (400th Death Anniversary), and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (500th Birthday)!
The music written by Gibbons and Palestrina encapsulates the last threads of the Renaissance choral style within their native countries (England and Italy), and serves as an excellent reference point for understanding how Renaissance polyphony matured, and morphed into the Baroque.
Join us for an hour of motets and madrigals, as we present both composers' music, tracing their various musical styles, examining their compositional techniques, and commemorating their lives.
