The Empowered Caregiver Series - McAllen

These courses aim to help caregivers feel more prepared to handle the challenges that come with caring for someone living with dementia. Caregivers may register for individual courses or complete the entire series to meet their needs.

- Tuesday, April 28, 2026 @2:00 p.m. Communicating Effectively - Dementia affects communication, including tips for communicating well with family, friends and health care professionals.
- Tuesday, May 26, 2026 @ 11:00am, Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors details common behavior changes and how they are a form of communication, non-medical approaches to behaviors and recognizing when additional help is needed.
- Tuesday, June 23, 2026 @ 2:00 p.m. Exploring Care and Support Services - Examines how to best prepare for future care decisions and changes.
- Tuesday, July 28, 2026 @ 2:20 Understanding Alzheimer's and Dementia - Basic information on the difference between Alzheimer's and dementia, stages, risk factors and treatments.
- Tuesday, August 25, 2026 @ 2:00 p.m. Managing Money: A Caregiver's Guide to Finances - Tips to help caregivers understand the costs of caregiving and the benefits of early planning.
