In this hands-on workshop, we will explore how embroidery can be integrated into printmaking, using a variety of stitching techniques to add texture and depth to printed works. Through a series of demos and exercises, participants will be introduced to the basics of embroidery and learn how to plan and execute an embroidered design on paper. We will also discuss ways that embroidery can enhance a print’s composition and narrative power, drawing from examples of other artists’ work, including Lutz’ embroidered print series First Impressions and All in Your Head. Join us for an exploration of fiber-based mark-making, to reimagine traditional printmaking one stitch at a time.
